Americans freak out about gun control. Gun control doesn't mean no guns at all. It means that there is a criteria to give a permit, like when you get a drivers license. It's not about prohibition, it's about being reasonable
No, not most. Not even close to "most." Stop trying to pigeonhole a group of 340M people. It's not only ignorant, it's lazy and makes you sound like a 12 year old whose only "knowledge" of Americans comes from watching dumb shit like Nickelodeon.
Not most Americans because most Americans aren’t Republicans
Russian, Chinese, and Iranian brainwashing propaganda peddled by US traitor$ coupled with our Electoral College has people not registered to vote and staying home on Election Day
Also, I wouldn’t bet only on foreign influence (although it probably played a role), there other factors like inflation and underpaid employment. Things that are not necessarily linked to the executive power… but average people don’t understand that, unfortunately
Ok, let's go deeper on this...
Gallup: 53% of Americans favor stricter gun laws, 43% oppose or prefer looser rules. Most identify as "independent," reflecting varied conservatism.
Your conclusion is logical considering that decades go by and no gun control is implemented at the federal level. Anyone looking at the scenario from outside can be forgiven for concluding that Americans don't care about gun violence on the whole, given that they vote for politicians who write laws.
If trump tries to invade you can increase that exponentially. I’ve never felt the need or desire to own a gun. But the orange dictator isn’t taking this country without a fight from all citizens from coast to coast. Ok maybe not Alberta. I am considering getting one legally.
Enlightening and fascinating dissertation! I learned a lot. Thank you. I’m a Brit but still want to know the context behind such important legislation for our Americousins 🫶🏻
The source for those numbers, because I went and looked this strikes me as so odd, suggests that there are five times more unregistered than registered guns in Canada. Does that seem unlikely to anybody else?
No, actually they are not. We just have actual regulations & laws so any asshole that wants to shoot up a school can't just walk into a Walmart, get an assault weapon & do so. 🤷🏻
It does.
If you look at guns as tools designed to kill, you then have a licensing system to allow the usage of that tool for that purpose.
Only in the US do you get people wanting guns because of feelings.
I think the original OP buried the story here. We have 34 guns per 100 people. The USA has 120 so the USA has almost 4 times as money guns as we do. This doesn’t mention how we that we do t have handguns or open carry laws.
Canadian Indigenous populations have a large amount of fire arms. In a lot of area's one reserve will have more guns than all the European Canadian towns surrounding it, combined.
Strangely no mass shootings in and around Ingenuous communities. Imagine that.
From *checks notes* it’s own citizens in the form of school shootings, the really silly chucklefucks will say a “tyrannical government” as they install a tyrannical government, all because of problems that could be solved by doing the opposite of what yall wanna do 🤣
American gun manufacturers have been courting Conservatives. There is an untapped market for handguns and assault style rifles, and money to be had. Expect looser gun regulations under a Poilievre government.
Yah. I’ve never met someone with a handgun in my 67 years of life.
People hunt yes.
And if they do have handguns they are mostly illegal and brought in from America.

They don’t feel their vote matters
The agreement started in May 2020 and ran until May 2022.
Look at inflation graphs and it coincides with the absolute worst of global and IS inflation. dump caused all of this.

Canada has always been a gun country, we just aren't crazy about it.
(I assume the US is No. 1 in that statistic as well.)
