Varne can control the Lifestream. Since it's the source of all magic, the more powerful she got, the higher her dominance over it, to the point that now she's pretty much a goddess of nature able to restore life to places like The Burn, or the opposite.

Bonus: The ring on Kit's left hand was given to her by Elidibus in 5.3. He gave it to her because he recalled it was for her, but couldn't remember making it. That's because she had it on in Pandae. She had it in Pandae because he gave it to her in 5.3.

It was intentional! She was a secret he guarded in his heart, afraid of having any visible attachments lest anyone think he could be influenced. This was his tribute to her.

12000+ years later, when he finds her again, he recognizes her, but can't remember why, and ofc she doesn't know him yet.

In Arma and Adra's memory, War of Magi wasn't simply slinging spells at each other, but there's arrays of Golem mechs and Mhach void cannon battery that Amdapoor and Mhachian mages can summon at their beck and call. And some battlefield can get so bad, spacetime is literally warped locally there.
