The overview map is a little misleading, in that the Cambie Corridor changes affect a relatively small amount of land. But this is still a massive sea change to how Vancouver does things, super positive to see this

Curious (as someone who is on 7th btw Heather and Ash) what that blotch is just south of 6th. Just the south side of 6th or does it run up to 7th and 8th?

Also, note that CD-1 zoning districts (unique site-specific zoning districts, we’re up to nearly 1000) are not included. I’ve been ranting about how these constrain our future planning options for years

The stupid Broadway Plan tower limits strike again: "In the hatched areas, any high-rise developments will proceed through a site-specific rezoning process. This approach will enable the City to regulate the number of towers per block or block face in areas where tower limit policies apply."

I feel like they could probably just set the limit in the zoning bylaw anyway? Probably would make BC Assessment's job more difficult but it's not really much worse than tower separation minimums.

A little birdie tells me that despite the tower limit complications, the City will be 1) aiming to rezone to standard zoning districts not unique CD ones, 2) making rezonings happen faster by leaving more detailed stuff to DP stage.
