what sucks even more is that owning a movie digitally costs the same price as a dvd used to and you get less for that money.

No one stops you from buying the dvd/bluray/4k though. Most movies has a physical release. Physical media isn’t dead.

True but it is actively dying. Most television shows are not released on dvd or blu-ray. Not everything gets a physical release. Or if they do they release a limited number that drives resale prices up making them unaffordable.

But one things for sure, if you have a fav movie you’d better buy it physically or make sure your copy is downloaded to your hard drive because one day it’s gone from the streaming service never to return again.

I can see the tv series since they are often produced by a streaming service like Netflix or Prime. I guess my tolerance for prices are a bit higher being a collector but I haven’t noticed higher prices. Or I live in a country where that doesn’t happen. Prices aren’t insane.

Mostly higher prices on things that had small releases. Additionally a lot of physical releases no longer contain the special features.

Also as people who care about keeping it alive we will seek it out but as they are being removed from stores and are less accessible.

this isn’t really related to physical media but it was around that time period but I miss when movies had good soundtracks. Like for example Spawn and the Queen of the Damned both had killer soundtracks. Now every soundtrack has shitty overplayed songs or sounds the same as everything else.

On a more related note I’ll always miss music videos being included, easily the best part of buying DVDs was the music videos, like The Punisher having that Drowning Pool music video and Queen of the Damned havig Static-X’s cold aslong as music videos made for Lestat’s band.
