At 19 yrs of age, Joan Trumpauer Mulholland was arrested for protesting in Jackson, Missippi & tested for mental illness because police couldn't understand why a white southern woman would fight for civil rights equality. She participated in three dozen sit-ins. She currently lives in Virginia. 💙💪
