Ableism is telling disabled people to stay home forever. Ableism is telling disabled people we’re not trying hard enough. Ableism is putting all the blame on disabled people rather than blaming the system that makes it so we can’t access the world.

One thing I hate when navigating Chronic Illness at doctors appointments. I’m so used to masking my symptoms that on the outside I’m smiling and friendly, but doctors take that as you not feeling sick. 👏THAT IS NOT THE CASE👏
This alone relates to me as an autistic. One doc told me I couldn’t be autistic because ‘I make better eye contact’ than others on the spectrum. Hello, doc? ITS CALLED MASKING. kthnxbai.
It’s so hard. I had a doctor who wouldn’t listen and I basically told them. “In order for me to go out and go places, I need this placard in order for me to be independent” It’s like they don’t care for you to be independent.
It’s alright. I finally got my placard but not for my conditions of EDS or POTS. My doctor finally gave me one when I was diagnosed with Small Fiber Neuropathy from a biopsy. At least I got the ending result.
