As much as I despise Trump and his cult, I actually support abolishing the debt ceiling. The fact that it's been raised so many times is proof that it doesn't deter the government from spending more than it makes. Its only use is in holding the economy hostage.

A weaponized debt ceiling impedes governmental cooperation. That said, I am glad it was not raised because Trump wanted it lifted on Biden's watch. I hope we eliminate it soon and require an annual budget, not these stop gap CRs that kick the can down the road.
