I had a year of Grammarly premium a couple years ago and it tracked me as typing nearly 8 million words in that year. Not once single time out of 8 million did I accidentally trigger my computer to plagiarize a NYT article (or anything else for that matter)

Doing some rudimentary math, I was a professional writer for 14 years. That’s 112 million words typed.

If we give them grace and say every 100,000 words, it plagiarizes, I should be able to find 1,120 instances of plagiarism since 2011.

I have 0 instances to report.

It averages out to 80 plagiarism instances a year, more than once a week. That may not be Willy nilly, but it is an extreme volume of plagiarism and wholly unacceptable.

God, reading further into the entire OpenAI defense, I think it's exactly the same as when they publicly humiliated the StabilityAI researcher at the congress.
