Union involvement isn't necessary. They probably want to avoid any appearance of impropriety, especially since some collective bargaining agreements prohibit striking. You have to get this idea that strike = union out of your head. Most workers in the US aren't unionized. They can still strike.

The fact is - we just do it. We all walk out and shut it all down. We won't get strike pay. Our jobs won't be protected

But we won't have a country if we don't. We are all facing hunger and poverty already

Partners providing mutual aid and future resources may not collectively have signed the strike card though. Or legally may not be able to… we want to ensure our member base is protected & we are prepared when Strike Day 1 kicks off. And throughout the strike. To launch w/ only 300k isn’t it yet.

I think the commitment is required because if people don’t commit, the organizers don’t know who will really show up. If they launch and it fizzles, the opportunity can’t be retried without general disregard. I signed it. I committed to the card. They want that many to move forwards. What I assume.

Hello GSUS! Many of us that work CySec are concerned about the need to capture any PII that can later be subpoenaed and this is a honeypot. Why require PII when you could have done a simple css on a website to keep an upvote button in play until the 3.5% was reached?
