It's the part that makes the least sense to the nt's, it feels like. They experience little bits of the rest, even if they can't imagine the chronic state of it. But the achronal, disconnected way every moment is from each other. I've never seen them Get it.
the best way I describe time blindness, is it's like lacking depth perception, but for time.
I've really loved these comics describing your brain, they've both helped me understand people who are different from me, and helped remind me I'm not alone 🧡
I have a co-worker/friend that calls this "spicy brain". I mentioned my ADHD tendecies to him and he said "Ah yea the spicy brain." And ever since then he's reminded me about small tasks I could ( and definitely would) easily forget without me ever asking.
Returning to this; There are lots of things about ADHD that makes having it difficult - To me, this in particular is one of the most painful ones. The thing where you end up letting down those around you without ever having meant or wanted to, yknow? That shit sucks
I’m not saying you necessarily have ADHD if you’re undiagnosed and relate to this - I am however definitely saying it’s worth considering getting tested if you struggle with this!
Btw; Yes the melting clocks are intentionally a Dali reference, and yes that particular painting of his is about ADHD time blindness and memory issues to me lmao
ADHD, much like anything else, has unpleasant sides that may be unpalatable to people without it. Please never think we’re not trying; We’re trying significantly harder than you can imagine.
Dude, I forgot a whole Christmas party I got invited to that I WANTED to go to and apologized PROFUSELY because this is the 2nd time they invite me to something and I didn’t show🥲🥲🥲
Thankfully she is just as neurodivergent so she understood but I was so frustrated with myself for missing out on something that ✨I✨wanted to do. Like damn brain, you got me fucked up, I wanted to hang. :(
i relate to this so hard, it's really hard to function without someone reminding you of even basic things. how long has it been since i last showered? when was i playing on going to the store, did i miss it?
personally i deal with this by externalizing the process. my brain may be terrible at holding onto these things, but my bullet journal is sure good at it. it's like someone is reminding me—that someone just happens to be me from the past
a lot of my fellow adhd friends use other methods like setting lots of alarms in their phone, or using digital calendars, or digital planners. i hope you will find something that helps you too 🫡💕
