I’m afraid I cannot agree with you on the principle - I think with proper safeguards the bill can be made to work well.

It seems to me that now is the time to focus on the detail - so that the flaws in the current draft can be cured.

Thanks, Alexander, and I know we disagree on this, as I do with more than one person very close to me in my real life. I think Jonathan Sumption’s article in today’s Times is the best commentary that I have seen from someone who supports the change in principle
