Four pints is the perfect pint number.
You're giddy and you maybe want more, but you leave knowing that there's unlikely to be any real repurcussions tomorrow.
Plus you look mysterious, like a person in control of themselves.
It’s a banger. John Cassavetes shot it all on a really long lens, like a telescope. Way in the distance. So you get professional actors mingling with non actors and no one feels like a camera is present. Unparalleled weirdness
Another banger with Ben Gazara here. I have a theory that Tom Waits, wrote the song “Shore Leave” after seeing this film. But this film was written as biography by Paul Theroux. So if my theory is correct, Tom Waits accidentally wrote a song about Louis Therrauxs childhood https://youtu.be/2_19pSzRP-g?si=zkA9nMgfGL6zMIAi
That's the original - running time of 135 minutes (2 hours and 15 minutes). However, Cassavetes later released a re-edited version in 1978, which was 108 minutes (1 hour and 48 minutes) long. I like them both but they are subtly different. Have you seen the later one?

There, I said it.
But both are good in their own ways.
