Fair enough, civics and politics aren’t in everyone’s major, and the government is absolutely very confusing. Let’s start at the premise: waste, fraud, and abuse are rampant in the federal government. This is a difficult thing to quantify, but it’s also entirely unevidenced.

Fact checkers have had a field day with the state department’s “reporting” on the work DOGE and Trump are doing, and just about every single specific claim they’ve made about spending has been refuted. My personal favorite is the 50 million dollars on condoms for Hamas.

The state department’s inability to produce any actual proof of this waste fraud and abuse that is apparently out of control is a damning lack of evidence. If the waste is there, simply show it. There’d be no need to make up stories if the truth was actually that waste and fraud were common.

But let’s assume the waste is there, which there certainly is some just nowhere near to the scale Trump needs to justify the actions of his administration. It’s extremely convenient that many of the agencies purged happen to be ones that oppose trump’s oligarchy and plutocracy.

Agencies like the NLRB and the CFPB have either already been destroyed, or are vocally in the crosshairs. Not only are these organizations highly effective at helping every day Americans, their destruction only benefits the 1% that makes up a staggering portion of trump’s cabinet and donors.

Destroying them does nothing to help curb waste fraud and abuse, as they are highly effective and aid the American people. The only winners are those who buy elections here. But let’s grant that these agencies being targeted are actually deserving of the axe, just to be charitable.
