Working with Twitch emotes and only 28x28 space really went to help me improve over the years in fine-tuning all of my works as I went on.. challenging at times, but so worth it, helped with learning better colors and shading!

I compared it often to being like a puzzle, and shading helping sell an "illusion" as if sub-pixels truly existed in between parts in the pixel art; a lot of "trust the process" moments lol
