Does this line from CR 706.10 not apply If an effect of the copy refers to objects used to pay its costs, it uses the objects used to pay the costs of the original spell or ability. I guess the copy doesn’t refer to the object

Yeah this is for things like Fling where a copy can know what you sacrificed for the original - Sage of the Skies doesn't have any effects that cared about this so the rule doesn't apply.
