It is opposition to partisanship.
Fundamentally disqualifying for the leadership of a political party.
But sure Dems, punch down at powerless voters.
Or protestors, or folks who are seeing their families get massacred.
It's Vermont, they weren't going to elect a conservative.
Going for the slightly eclectic guy mostly known for being crank-adjacent and opposing immigration and gun control is a choice that only looks good with hindsight.
Like, you don't even need to see the hypocrisy. You just need to respond to someone actively trying to make you lose.
The issue is I'm an accountant and he's one of the fucking leaders of the Democratic Party, that doesn't get to be part of his job description
