A friend got a job created for him at the local land grant university because of his amazing work doing outreach about native Oregon bees. We were sorry to lose him from the nonprofit, but happy his passion was contagious & recognized.

pollinators like the leafcutter bee, blue mason bee & carpenter bee. But the carpenter bee nests in wood in homes & furniture can upset homeowners. Nonetheless they too are important native pollinators.

The leaf & petal prints are species from neighbouring gardens with telltale half moon pieces cut so these bees can build their nests.

impatiens) & the Blue Orchard Mason Bee (Osmia lignaria) shown. These are a better solution than introduced honeybees which can be difficult to maintain and endanger native bees by introducing pathogens and outcompeting them for food.

Not sure if this is a good place to put a reminder to people but even organic bee safe insecticide (Captain Jacks) needs to be applied after dusk so it has time to dry before bees contact it.
