And unfortunately there are far too many that are still on the wrong side of this. I was in 5th grade when we integrated in Indiana. It was rough on those poor kids. I can't imagine what she went through.
I'm sorry to all Black women and men, who as children were made to feel less than. You have never been less than. Those who oppressed are the ones with issues. To power over people that don't fit in your little box, I hope they learn + grow. No one has the right to make another feel less than.
i believe it. Im 65 and grew up during the time of segregation and then integration; race wars, lots of violence in the streets... it was a dangerous time in America... I never thought i'd have to hear about racism war crap again, until Trump
A 3rd grade student did a biography project and poster about Ruby Bridges. At the bottom, she wrote, “Thank you Ruby Bridges for making the way for girls like me.” I teared up.
I was 8 when that took place and I still can't imagine the courage of one child. We cannot allow these efforts to be forgotten or erased. They helped make us so much more.
Recent (last 50 years) immigrants of color simply do not understand this. So many voted for Trump! Their willful ignorance and lack of appreciation and gratitude has destroyed this nation.

White flight was more than escaping cities. It was deliberately unavailable to Blacks and harmful to them.
