Yeahh the game's biggest flaw is pacing. I wouldnt even call it bad but the really good stuff is a time sink to get to. Id expect no less from the Octopath Traveller devs but for a Mario and Luigi game, you can beat Superstar Saga in the time it takes you to get to the main themes of the game lol

Need a game to do this, but it instead:

A. Gives you an entirely unrelated item to deal with them.
B. Never gives you it. All the breakable looking blocks are just never to be broken.

Yea it definitely takes it's time a lot more than many would like, but it only gets better and better honestly. Still my 2nd/3rd favorite for the series.

The thing frustrating me the most atm is the fact that you have to press 'A' for Luigi in the battle menu, but press 'B' for his moves in battle

At first it bothered me a little, but in time I got used to it. Also it makes sense since you can now press B in battle to cancel the attack.
