I was so surprised that the reviews were mid to bad
I quite enjoyed it, I missed the hand to hand combat from the other cap movies and I think this didn't disappoint. Also Sam surfing on a missile put the dopey-st smile on my face and idk why. Writing was also good, not world ending, fun even.
Or I guess to rephrase that, I rewatched the beginning of winter solider and was thinking "damn the close combat always seems to be better choreographed."
Other than a couple of times in this movie where he could've used the wings, I'd say the non-cgi fights are all great.
I mean we have to also keep in mind we still have to get through the Chapek era projects as the goal then was Quantity over quality from the Disney Higher ups
What makes me confident for the future is that Feige/Iger have realized this approach is harming the brand and they will cut back so they can focus on quality again. but it's gonna be a little while before that cause we still have a backlog of projects from that era, unless they pull a David Zaslav
I think at this point, I’m cautiously optimistic about Daredevil and Fantastic Four. Besides the Spider-Man show, which I surprisingly have been really enjoying, that’s it’s for me with Marvel.
That being said, it was nice seeing you know who make a cameo in this movie at least.
The cameos were... well, definitely better Dr. Strange: MoM's, I'll say that. 😅
I'm also as cautiously optimistic as you are with Fantastic Four and Daredevil, but maybe because one is trying something interesting and the other is reviving a cool show.
Back from the theater. If I can sum it up in some way: You ever had that Marvel comic that has a bunch of elements from other comics that you either haven’t read or don’t care about? Yet despite that, the main elements do it for you?
I really like Anthony Mackie as Captain America himself. I liked all the scenes with him, the new Falcon, and Isaiah. I like a lot of the action scenes. Especially the main aerial one around the dead Celestial. There’s a very welcomed cameo. That stuff did it for me. The rest? Meh. Alright.
I agree for sure with the aerial fight being fun to watch. I even watched it in 4DX so the moving seats were definitely a benefit there. I even liked the final fight too. But those fights on the ground from earlier scenes were really weak and boring. But I do agree with the movie just being okay.

It wasn't bad or at least as bad as Phase 4/5's other stinkers, but it didn't make me feel confident in the MCU again.
It definitely didn't make me feel confident for the upcoming Thunderbolts* movie. 😅

That’s what this movie is for me.
I ate that shit up.
Y’know what? Sure. I’ll take it. lol
