To "win" against Denmark, Trump would not only have to convince Greenland's >90% Indigenous population to vote for full independence from Denmark but also to have them vote to be an American territory. That, or he has to take over by force and subjugate that population.

They seem to at least be leaning towards independence. I think I read that elections are in April.

Ah yes, I think I see now. Even if they vote for independence, it has to be decided by referendum of both Greenland citizens and the Danish parliament right?

Think of it like a divorce. First, the terms need to be negotiated, such as how long they will be subsidized by Denmark and by how much. Then, the Greenlanders will vote on whether they can approve the terms, after which the Danish parliament will vote on it. The last part will be a formality,

Not that I would put that last bit past the son of a guy who *might* have been KKK, currently buddied up to the grandson of Nazi party members who embraced South African apartheid, a guy who, it seems, thinks Germans need just to let that whole Holocaust thing go?
