That would be great but it doesn't replace the participation of US agencies in committees, the commitment to transferring knowhow and technologies from the US, the cultural and intellectual interchange. It's more than money that we provide, and the US would still lose global influence.

For sure. Well said. I seem to recall that Bill Gates has said the gov't orgs are necessary for progress and even a large $ org like theirs, are not the answer. My hope is the WHO can keep running with some help, and the shadow orgs in the US can contribute to the interchange. It won't be the same.

Huh? Nice conspiracy thinking there. It’s a multilateral organization of member countries who agree to workstreams and reporting. It’s a place where countries exchange some info, formally & informally. Like the WTO, the OECD, the UN. Do we show China “all our info”? No. That’s not how IOs work…

Once US is not party to those agreements its info stream will be more difficult to manage. A source of key viral and disease vectors is China - you think access to this will stay at the same level? China would love to replace the US as a key info bridge
