There will likely be tariffs on the parts that are made outside of the U.S. which will increase the cost of repairs. The fine print will need to be checked to find out for sure.

The price increase may not be so lockstep. If auto parts are ordered from Canada, the wholesale cost may be $20 per unit. That goes up to $25 per unit. But at the auto parts store, they may have sold the part for $45 or $50 per unit. Will they pass on the whole increase or part of it?

If the previous rounds of tariffs are any indication - domestic manufacturers will look at the price hikes of the foreign made goods, and hike their prices to just below that percentage.

My old company makes paint that goes on plastic parts of cars ( bumpers, mirror housings, etc ). Parts are made in Mexico, painted there and shipped to USA to be assembled into finished car. Tariffs going to be paid on our paint, then on the part coming ack.
