I don't know how data protection laws compare with those in the UK, & EU, but even with unmodified data, over here there are statutory limitations on who can have it, how it may be used, and every step (access/copying/transfering/etc) has to be meticulously audited.
That’s how it’s supposed to work here, also. But we now live in The Upside Down, and our President now has immunity if orders are in the context of doing his job. And since he’s authorized Musk to do this, Musk can skirt the safeguards we have in place.
