It's a hill I will forever die on but I wish I got to play the current state of Baldur's Gate 3 as my first playthrough to experience what the devs obviously intended the release to be.

It is annoying but in the long run it is beneficial for gamers and developers. They can push updates and create bigger games that require the extra space.

Yeah. Honestly, I just want to play & not wait like 2 hours. I don’t need updates and stuff. Just create a great game from the jump. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Also, two hours is insane! I can download a whole CoD game in less than an hour and they're like 130+ GB. But yes I do yearn for the days where games could just be played instantly. They were smaller then and could do that.

I understand like adding stuff to the game but not being able to play something immediately after inserting it is insane. It didn’t even let me bypass the updates. I had to download them. And that was AFTER the game itself was downloaded. It’s just WILD to me.

It's not just about updates, friend. They literally cannot fit these games on discs anymore. Gamers expect great graphics, bigger maps, more content. A PS5 disc can hold 100GB of data and textures alone can eat up a large chunk of that.

You can't create games on the scale gamers expect these days and not have to download the game. The discs literally can't hold all of the data.

You may say you don't care about updates but they're pretty integral to modern gaming.
