The banality is malicious, a product of slashing/ending arts & music investments, 'no loitering' aggression, making every-f'ing-thing "family friendly"/all ages, so there's nowhere just for teens OR adults to go w/o commercialism, banning sexual expression, etc. It's boring af by design.
