Observe the beautiful Safflower, one of humanity's oldest crops! This one was born from seed scattered by wild birds at the feeders. I used to pull up the emerging plants mercilessly, until I learned that they produce beautiful thistle-like golden flowers! Now I'm excited to see the rest bloom.

What part of the world are you located in?
I grow hundreds of heirlooms from seed on purpose, but this little one was just from birdseed scatter!
But you could use the flowers to make dye! π https://botanicalcolors.com/safflower-instructions/
(I suspect), but itβs been grown for biofuels in Brazil, Iran and China.
I'm ashamed I used to pull them up. I would always leave a few but there were just so many, they crowded other stuff out. I'm glad they're here.
