And also we must recognise the volunteer first responders who in rural areas of North Norfolk are on the scene far faster than most paramedics and ambulances.

That this service is voluntary and needed just shows how dire a state the NHS is in.

I’m absolutely gobsmacked they are not treated the same as police & firefighters. That is not only nuts but damn insulting. Beyond the circumstances of traumatic situation & immediate first aid, who does a police officer and firefighter (& a lifeboat crew too), turn to save a life? The paramedic.

Paramedics should be paid more than almost anyone, due to the front line, multi-skilled, often dangerous work they do.
