I don't understand how I can have such a clear vision of what I want but it's impossible to actually draw it. I HAVE THE REFERENCE IN MY HEAD WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANTT
I miss trying to take an image from my head and trying to perfectly execute it to paper without knowing exactly how to approach it, erasing and starting over, discovering new drawing skills..... it's like my brain is playing in an open field and making up games to play to fill the time
True art is when making a really good drawing but then calling it worthless and bad since you compared it to a professional's sketch who's been making art before you were born.
real
though i've been given the advice to take a real long break when that happens, sleep on it and whatnot, apparently it makes your brain feel better about it after
or take a shower, which i've found helps more than the previous advice
I think one big part of art is accepting that your art will barely ever quite match your vision. Something about how our ideas appear in our mind always seems so much more fantastical and impressive. Maybe its because bringing it to life causes us to become too familiar with it, and the magic fades-
-away. Or maybe we like to imagine things beyond our own talents because they present a version of ourselves we’re more proud of.
But even if it doesn’t quite match your vision, what you’ve created is still special. It still represents that vision in its own way, you just need to be able to look-
-at it with the same eyes as a casual viewer. Don’t focus on all the ways it isn’t what you had in mind. Look at all quirks of your art that make it your own.
That helped me realise that my art doesn’t have to be perfectly what I wanted. It’s unique, and that makes it special.
Oh yeah, I feel that way often. But trial and error is part of the process. Sometimes you got to take a step back from art and take a little breather before getting back to the grind.
