Ask your family members, your neighbours, friends, and work colleagues if they know what SEZs, Freeports and charter cities are, they will look at you like you have two heads.

This is why we should never had had the referendum...noone had any idea of the consequences. I find the UK public pretty wilfully ignorant of politics... we just don't engage, think it happens 'over there', it's boring... I've heard it all.
Well I wouldn't say never ever.... but we need lots of education before we consider it again. Switzerland consults and involves its citizens in lots of different issues but it's a different profile and education level....
All I can say is show them the UK Govt's website on SEZs and Freeports + the 192 page document on Compulsory Purchase Orders, and of course my research which is crammed with citations, links etc.
It's definitely not a great conversation piece.
I think if you're not politically engaged at all then it can pass you by.
I'm aware but not the best at uncomplicating it to explain.

Had that convo again with my parents on Tuesday, and they're grateful for the info that I've shared with them during the past 4 to 5 years.....even though it felt at times like I was banging my head against a wall 🤦

I can only suspect "they are all in on it".
