So much about generative ai is awful. I've known people on both sides who have been hurt. Those who were accused of using it, when they hadn't. Even those who recorded their process/ made things that ai can not do. I also know people who have been fired were passed over or loss extra income.

It sickens me when I assume a real artist, author, and used ai, and I was incorrect. With regards to art, combing over it as best I can before coming to what I believe is the correct conclusion. It also sickens me when an artist dies and less than 24 hrs after their death. Their art is stolen.

Or when an artist is accused of gatekeeping when they're streaming a tutorial. Only for the art they're making on the tutorial to be stolen.
I wish it was more apparent how to tell what is ai & what isn't. Unfortunately the more we're able to spot the differences the more we help the machines learn

Yeah I see something odd. I see people sharing intentionally shitty pictures of things to make them look worse to accuse hard-working artists of using AI for some reason, and then I see other people sharing those images and those accusations without doing basic fact checking.

I'm tired of this.

I dont even know WHERE the fucking car picture is from because this is the actual texture. Unedited. In Sims 4 Studio. In the most neutral lighting possible. And here it is brightened.

This is readily accessible information, we can all open our games and simply look. It's not hard to do.

I'm now realizing the images used here are real photos of real posters, which means it looks like the real world versions look weird because they're shitty real world photos (video stills, I assume, which would look even worse from compression) in poor lighting of a shiny surface.

The BEST case scenario of accusations like these is you're right. The WORST case scenario is you're wrong and accusing real people of faking their own work because you squinted at it REAL HARD and there's NO WAY something stylized presented through a compressed still from a video could be real art!

The Sims 4 has literal THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of pieces of bespoke art made just for it, from every single texture to every single swatch of every single painting, to logos, to icons, to marketing materials. Why would they use an AI to draw a smudgy 20x30 pixel skyline? Come on.

turns out these screenshots have actually been distorted while the uploading process since it's not exactly how they appear in game but i am still not sold on some of the proportions and odd shapes some of these illustrations have 🫣

the first one just looks like an oversimplified art style to me. lines look intentional. but on the second the mirrors are different colours 🤔 and the darker one is on the side where light falls... which is odd
