How much money do I need to be able to walk out my door with 0 chance a white cop will kill me in a fit of roid rage? I got money I don’t have that freedom. How much do I need to get it?
What is another way to describe riches?
The word that describes riches is Privilege!
Those that have more riches than life requires to live comfortably are paupers in the true wealth of Humanity.
It is the lives you touch with Kindness & Compassion is the true wealth.
Every form of government, throughout all of history, could be described in this way. Since the beginning of time economic might or military might has controlled the people. Those with that might rule those without.
This is why in Canada we have a multi-party political system.
I find America strange, they speak of democracy then limit themselves to only two parties who seem equally corrupt and radical. That's not democracy imho.
I have voted for all four parties over the years. That's democracy.
Canada is not immune, our politicians are not innoculated against the traps of privilege & patronage.
Poilievre in particular is a funny little reptilian in a human suit, like someone tried to make a softer, less competent manipulator from bits of Stephen Harper and Elmer Fudd. He's still a hazard.
When the delegates to the Constitutional Convention assembled in Philadelphia in 1787, they saw political perils everywhere. A democratic government, they feared, might dissolve into anarchy. A system designed as a republic invited an aristocracy to rise. I guess you get what you asked for.
Most of them are unknown to the general population. Only their puppets are on screen, - and will be rewarded later by being welcomed into the club, once they’ve done their stint in front of the cameras.
Your statement assumes that the votes were counted correctly. The overwhelming evidence is that they were not. So, let's excoriate elected officials for turning a blind eye to possible election hacking before we play the blame game with voters...
Sure. Though, I'd say the ignorance about what people are really voting for AND the racism/misogyny are the problem, both being perpetuated by propaganda.
That way you will only repeat the cycle of rise of civilisation which lasts a while then decays and is destroyed.
Far better that we do one thing we don't do in any period of our civilisations and that is govern ourselves first before trying to govern others.
2/3 Another thing to do is get rid of this notion that you can possess things and people.
The one thing you can ever possess is your body and your mind that animates it. That is all Mother Nature aka Life gave you to possess all else is a delusion.

I for ever pass from hand to hand;
And each possessor thinks me his own land.
All of them think so, but they all are wrong ;
To none but Fortune only I belong. – Anon of a field.

You are right, of course, Chomsky never said that.
He did say this:
"The real difference between democracy and oligarchy is between poverty and wealth. Wherever the rulers, whether they be a minority or a majority, owe their power to wealth, that is an oligarchy. "
The wealthy dance across the legal system with a sprinkle of cash in the right places.
Regular people get chewed up and are left enslaved to fines and debt. If not actually doing slave labor in prison.
It has been that way my entire life.
Pure capitalism and pure democracy don't coexist. The closer you get to one the farther you are from the other, a middle ground like the social democracy's in the Nordic nations seems pretty good. But most Americans would call that communist.
Generational wealth and no estate tax. Babies are knighted with hundreds of millions of dollars at birth like Musk. It's an absolute recipe for disaster as we can all see.
I 100% agree, even if the quote is misattributed. We cannot vote our way out of this capitalist hellscape when our electoral options are chosen by Capital.

The vote does get split between liberal and NDP
Together they work to limit system to two parties since real third party would weaken powers.
But more than that …
Most of them are unknown to the general population. Only their puppets are on screen, - and will be rewarded later by being welcomed into the club, once they’ve done their stint in front of the cameras.
Voters are adults, not babes lost in the woods, hypnotized by a billionaire and powerless to do anything other then obey
And it looks like this EVERY election
We can be a plutocracy with an ignorant voter base that voted not necessarily for it, but for the racism that comes with it.

Not ideal since cuts out nonprofits.
Still, no lobbying. No pre-written laws for politicians. No soft landing for retired helpful politicians. No free tropical isle vacations etc.
