I agree with more or less all of this. But independent sites, run single-handily, like mine have tried and tried for years to cut through and spread new music, inventive music and more meaningful, deeper, intelligent reviews to no avail. We aren't all hung up on trends of algorithms or AI.

Bit of both indifference and the fact that despite what anyone says, tastes are not that eclectic: still I would say based on whatever tiktok sensation, or what the main players, established titles and in the UK, whatever the BBC is pushing.

To add to that...even many small labels and artists who crave reviews and attention in the early days, are very quick to drop support for us indy blogs and sites once they are validated by an established media title/radio show. It's very difficult.

I've stayed on Spotify and made playlists to try to disrupt that algorithm laziness. But again, in vain, as so many people just don't have time to explore for themselves or take a chance on something new/different or outside their usual tastes.
