I've used Amazon three times, always for things I couldn't get elsewhere. If you look hard enough you can almost always source alternatives from other sellers. I'm mostly missing proper shops on proper high streets. - ThreadSky

Even our town centre (so-called), ripped to shreds with re-building places nobody needs, for years now, doesn't even have one food supermarket that sells fresh produce any more. If you don't have a car you're a bit stuffed.

Oh, I know. The only place I've been to recently with actual shops was Alnwick, but there's a retail park place going in near the A1, so it probably won't last. Most towns are nothing but coffee shops and charity places.

Spent a lot of time in Morpeth as a kid. Used to get the train from Newcastle as we never had a car. Lots of good memories.
