even if we hate eachother all of us are more valuable than we were before because we have to be. it'll take a while to internalise that properly. i hope we can.

also none of us are actually safe? australia's doing, fine. we fended off the last incursion of transphobia quite well but there's another one brewing. they've already taken hrt away from kids in queensland. dutton (our right wing guy,) is looking more likely to be elected in the wake of trump...
and since our major centrist "left wing" party are transphobic too, it's honestly uncertain if things will be better or worse at this point. plus our local activism network isn't large and is shot through with byzantine social dramas that i will not bore you with. we are unstable atm...
it is scary. it's top down transphobia like they have in the uk, most people are normal about us here, but considering what's happened in the uk there is not a lot of comfort in that either. maximum possible respect and solidarity to struggling americans, who are actually facing existential threat..
but it doesn't and it cannot stop with you. ditto for the other international trans people on here. we're all dealing with something important on a regional level. we all have the maximum potential to effect change where we are. if we do it right then hopefully we'll find a way to help you...
too. immigration law seems like a good place to start with that. it currently seems way too difficult for anyone who needs it to move here, which makes sense, because my country is mad racist and we've been playing legal games to keep refugees out for years despite we helped to draft the fucking...
un human rights convention that technically gives you the right to seek asylum here in the first place! please focus on the long game here, if possible. this is all one struggle with a lot of little parts. the more countries are captured by transphobia the harder it will be for everyone to fight.
Yeah, I tried applying for a work visa and even with a decade if certified experience in a high-ekill field I just barely qualify. Not even for the Visa but for the EOI to get the Visa, and I haven't heard back on that in Months.
And anecdotally, that top-down transphobia is beginning to take root - several friends in the last few weeks who were previously neutral-to-positive about trans people have started ranting to me, unprompted, about the same bullshit anecdotes we saw in the US and UK
Kids changing names, pronouns and race every few weeks and teachers and fellow students being forced to accept it, hairdressers asking for consent every time they touch your head etc
There's only so long the average brain can marinate in a soup of hatred before becoming swayed, and unfortunately I'm neither rich or talented enough to offer them alternate means of occupying their leisure
