I have not heard two of the same opinion of this movie in a row. I’ve definitely heard lots of people who like it, but I always hear of this after I hear of someone who disliked it. Or had some other opinion. Fascinatingly divided.

Might be simply due to it reaching somewhat mainstream status unlike all the other Eggers' films. If The Lighthouse made $40M domestic on its opening week, you can be sure that at least 70% of the moviegoers would claim it's shit.
