For me, I always considered Sisko to be a well rounded captain and person. Picard was somewhat arrogant and careless, thinking they are capable of doing anything, which is why Q had to pour cold water on his face and wake him up by showing him the Borg. Not to mention, Sisko was

better at interpersonal relationships. He knew how to handle everyone and not be too closed off. Regardless of Picard s2 "explanations" about Picard's character, it took him 7 years to join the card game that happens in his own ship. Sisko on the other hand... Is a chill guy.

I always preferred Sisko to Picard and Kurk for that matter. I like the fact that DS9 gives us a more militaristic Federation. It just makes a whole lot more sense.

I 100% agree. Sisko is my favorite captain, he's still a great guy but he's put in situations that the others aren't, forced to bend a bit on his ideals to ensure a good outcome, Picard in his place wouldn't have succeeded in bringing the romulans into the war. It HAD to be sisko.
