Seeing people's reaction to Carmack's tweet about DOGE is further solidifying my idea that most people don't pay attention to anything. You can be disappointed, but that tweet is completely on brand with who he's always been..

"I am fairly hostile to most of the environmental movement, finding it generally a modern tribal religion that justifies condemnation and control of others in the name of protecting the environment."
He was a big fan of Ayn Rand, and him and his ex-wife's company was called Fountainhead Entertainment. I could probably dig up something from a 90s Wired or CGW article or something that clearly spells out his politics going that far back, but of course he'd be on board with DOGE
Oof, I had no idea it went back that far, but I’m not surprised, thank you. It still feels like a new, extra step, but for sure on a path he’s been on for ages
yeah i really idealized id, and him in particular, as a teen. i had a rather rude awakening about this during his hyperindividualist aerospace era. it became clear there were aspects of that whole story i needed to open my eyes to.
I think it was shortly afterwards when he acknowledged that he sometimes has trouble with empathy, and I thought at the time "no shit". No idea how true the quote from the police report is that is now apparently missing from his Wikipedia page.
