I'm itching to trade in my M1 Pro for an M4 Air (whenever they come out) not because the chip is letting me down but because I want a thinner and lighter computer. Even five years ago it'd be unthinkable that I could do my work on anything but top of the line, but here I am begging to downgrade

I have the same one. I’ll upgrade with the next iteration just for perf with magic mask in Davinci but everything else is amazing.

I have a MacBook Pro M1 with 16GB RAM for development that I bought the day they were available in the UK. It won’t be replaced any time soon: it is likely the most cost effective laptop that I have ever owned.

I hear you. The leasing company wants me to swap this M1 Max for a M4 Max.

However, as this machine's resale price is ridiculous, the re-leasing plan would be almost as expensive as getting a new one. 🤷‍♀️

Have the same one, company has a 3-year laptop policy, but there was really no reason for me to get a new one.
