If you could only have 1, bread is a close 2nd, but I'm going with potatoes. You can fry them, mash em, bake em, make them into little pancakes with eggs

Cheese. Very happy to try new cheeses. Am a purist, meaning I don't really like cheese with stuff added. Fr'instance, I love Wensleydale but dislike it with added cranberries/apricot/truffle etc.

I prefer to add condiments, sauces, jams etc to the cheeses, usually something I've made.
