At least from the photos, looks like there was no commercial (saleable) component here. By convention, logging includes some commercial product. Obviously, this doesn't mean there aren't impacts.

This area is 10+ miles from the WUI. Plenty of sizable stumps and logging trucks moving through. My point isn’t that there are impacts.. that goes with any extraction activity. It’s that our land management agencies call it ecological restoration.

I agree that term 'restoration' is inappropriately applied to many actions that are clearly not -- I've researched/written much on this topic. But if you're suggesting that tree cutting can never be ecologically beneficial, hard disagree (as would most in forest science community).

There are cases where some tree cutting is appropriate, I’d say. Like cutting an invasive tree before it can take over an ecosystem. The forest science community “foresters” overwhelmingly see forests as something to control and manipulate and like to think they know better than nature.

Forest ecology (e.g. science) is very different from forestry, lacks the command/control attitude that you rightly are skeptical of. If interested, check out recent report on this topic pinned to my profile -- you'll see forest ecologists are firmly behind tree cutting under specific circumstances.
