Yeah it's a solid genre for sure. I would follow the playbook if I were you. I just find it interesting that some people have had success entirely outside of that. Often involves advertising though mind you. Not many indies do that. Publishers do though.

-great trailer
-show that to 300-1k streamers
-participate in festivals
-get 100 wishlists a day (for a while)
-release
