The hard thing is that, like most anti-anti-Trumps, Douthat gets it. All of it. That said there’s usually at least one thing that keeps them from disavowing him completely and it’s usually a paycheck, which imho makes it all that much worse. Not sure if that’s Douthat’s thing or something else.
