I do love that grand Cathay from warhammer fantasy is basically the heroic and good version of the imperium of man from 40k. Like what if the primarchs were dragons, and some were girls, and the emperor was happily married and his kids liked him

I'm sure being a citizen will suck to some degree but at least the constant threat of chaos that is a factor in that wasn't caused/exacerbated by the Dragon Emperor.
I'm just tickled pink that after like a full year of trying and failing to find 28mm ancient chinese infantry models, 1. Cathay gets announced by Games Workshop as basically fantasy 28mm Ancient China and 2. Atlantic Wargames announces a day later a "Warring States" 28mm mini line. Oh, those rascals
That said AoS and now, even old world warhammer fantasy presently are cheaper (like half as much in real $) to build a 2000 point army for now than 40k, which is wild given WHFB initially got canned for being too expensive to build armies for
Don’t…it may seem tempting but honest to god the best part of WH:FB was talking about it but playing the damn thing is a slog and I don’t know how much they updated it in “Old World”
unless you live near a store it will mostly be painting and assembly and such - and that's totally fine, since that was always 80 to 90% of the hobby, with games only making up a much smaller % of that time.
I WAS IN THE SAME POSITION. I spent like a solid decade looking for a decent way to build a three-kingdoms era army and always coming up blank and silently begging Warlord games to make a range of them and then all the sudden I get all this!

I've been *really* enjoying Total War: Warhammer...
I have been considering branching into the tabletop, maybe.
