“Hoarding conditions” is one of those terms that’s so wildly overused in the fire service. We had one recently that would definitely fall into the expert category — entire rooms we couldn’t even enter because they were genuinely floor to ceiling with stuff
We couldn’t even get the door open there was so much stuff piled on the other side of it. Me and the cop squeezed through the gap and were both like, “Wow!”
As a professional organizer, I've seen all levels of hoarding situations. Sounds like there wasn't even a "goat path," as we call it, for you to walk through the space. Another term used is "doorbell dread": hoarders often refuse to answer the doorbell for fear of their hoard being discovered.
