appreciate your forthright description of the "ascent of the Catholic right" in Washington DC (more MSM outlets should follow up w similarly honest assessments)
the Supreme Court has expressed an "emphatic vision" in religion cases, not sure they've been pro-liberty or favorable to Xian interests
Sup Ct has been all-free-exercise-all-the-time, but done so while effectively erasing the nonestablishment clause, so I'd say they've been un-emphatic in defense of true religious liberty (and dissents have said as much)
favorable to Xian interests? not unless Xian interests = Constantinianism

some NYT coverage has implied or conveyed that the Catholic right is pro-doctrinal-purity while Francis + Leo are unconcerned w doctrine
I'd say Francis put forth doctrine
doctrine as in Augustine's De Doctrina Christiana, doctrine = teaching, Francis embraced that, as I expect Prevost/Leo will
they criticized Vance precisely for unorthodox, wrong, "impure" if you will doctrine re ordo amoris
Key word In what Pope Leo just said about Catholic social teaching was "treasury"
Maybe not identical to "deposit of faith" but similar, and social teaching *is* doctrine
Francis's Evangelii Gaudium is likely to be a guide to doctrine/teaching for Leo
