That is sad. I feel the same way. I worked my way through college as a church music director. Now I just canβt go to any church around here. I canβt stomach things people are saying and doing.
My sibling has gone full evangelical since Trump. He also has what I think looks like a Christian nationalist tattoo. It's really hard having a conversation with him while he's trying to convert me.
I understand. Iβm sorry youβre going through this. My brother has finally realized not to try that on me, but he isnβt that far gone with the cult.
It's really saddening. We were raised by a liberal mother who was very active with our county's Democratic Party. We were taken to church, but nothing fanatical.
See if you can get a hold of this. It explains a lot. Maybe go read it in a library. The writer is here on BlueSky too. Maybe she can answer some questions?
As a citizen of thr US, I feel the same. We are not all of us on board with what's happening. Our built-in checks and balances have failed us, not because they can't stop it, but they won't. We have little recourse. This is heartbreaking, infuriating and embarrassing.
The US has been pretty much sheltered from massive political upheaval after the war of independence. Everything always happened somewhere else. You could watch it on tv, saying thΓ t could never happen here.Until it did at an astonishing speed. Resistance must get much stronger, everything is at stake
I agree. But the downfall didn't start with Trump. It may be ending with him but it started eroding 30 or more years ago. I fear that armchair observer to history status has made us too soft, directionless and mesmerized to fight, like someone filming, fascinated, as a tornado bears down on them.
Paul!! This is so absolutely correct. America is blind to its own utter destruction on all the points that you mentioned!! Open your eyes American citizenry!
have sympathy for the people living in it, unable to escape. forced to watch while the rich play with our lives. feeling no community with our neighbors and no empathy either
While we empathise with the 75 million that voted against it, itβs kinda hard not to be angry at the entire country that clung to this horrendous system that thousands of US kids lives have been sacrificed for, that actively allowed it to happen again and are doing fck all to fight it now.
We just got out of the last American recession, they come stacked on top of each other and we are sick of it. If the US has to fall so the rest of the world can be stable and prosperous so be it.
Iβm over Cletus with his 50 point iq in bumfck nowhere deciding global consequences while rational votes mean nothing and canβt stop it. The broken system in the US doesnβt just fck the US it fcks us all.
I do! That's why I am here, to support you. I live in Europe and have a wider view. It's devastating to watch but you're not alone! We are on your side and would love to see that Orange sack of shite disappear on the spot. Connect with likeminded people and don't give up. Strength in numbers girl!!
This is exactly what's going on here. We have an administration that doesn't care about the people of this country. Their only goal is to feed oligarchs money. Their supporters are brainwashed and their resisters are frustrated and outnumbered in legislative and executive branches. It's sad.
That would sum most of things up. I would only add to the list: "to remove people's free speech, for those citizens who dare to critisize a foreign nation that's comitting a full blown Genocide" and also "to help and enable that same foreign nation to commit such crimes against humanity".
