I’ve seen a lot of people say that they should keep Sam and trade JJ. With JJ coming off a bad injury, wouldn’t it make sense to tag Sam and keep JJ as his backup with plans of starting him possibly in 2026. What’s the downside? Even if they sign Sam to a long term deal, they could Cousins him.
He’s gonna be the most 3rd round compensatory pick that ever compensated. I think they really believe in McCarthy. Tag and trade also feels icky after Sam balling out for them.
Mutually beneficial for both sides to come to agree to a deal. Vikes can’t let him walk and Sam has played for enough shitty teams to realize that chasing the money elsewhere is a fools errand.
I get that McCarthy was a high-pick but this feels so Brock Purdy-esque that they have to consider trading McCarthy to a QB needy and sticking with Darnold
