I totally agree. We have the very same issues and causes of homelessness here in the UK. Another issue is Mental Health, the lack of support and facilities especially for Vets with PTSD. We are so quick to judge- it can happen to any of us💔 Be kind .

Not to mention how a lack of domestic violence resources is a huge contributing factor. When it takes multiple incomes to afford housing, people either stay in abusive relationships or both end up homeless.

Of course . I got on a blacklist because of my stupid f****** husband then. Two young children. Finally got a place to live with somebody but then they wanted to raise the rent $25 and evicted us. So that was the '80s. It got worst.

In BC rent hikes have been capped very low since 2020, below rising expenses & inflation. Evictions are strictly controlled by the RTB & tenants are only evicted for an owner or their child to move-in to a building with 5 units or less. ‘Renovictions’ are only granted for RTB permitted retrofits.

My OH worked w trades living in their vehicles. On the island you see people living out of old RVs. Absolutely loathe the housing bubble & speculators it attracted who have no business being landlords. Also loathe str/airbnb boom (which for small communities who haven't opted in is still an issue)

I remember in 2018 a construction worker in Vancouver told me that everyone on his crew besides the foreman spent every night in shelters. And it’s worse now.
