I was addicted to this store, every Birthday and Christmas I would take my kids there and carefully watch their eyes to see what they would want, we would talk about the differences between the toys in the 80s and now. I never thought private equity would get away with destroying the store.
God, I miss the days when Pokemon cartridges were made of colored plastic. I remember pre-ordering Pearl and being so excited to see what color the cart would be only to find that it was just boring dark gray, and it's been nothing but gray ever since. :(
This is my personal platonic ideal of the late '90s. Pokemon Gen I, fifth-gen consoles, and a Toys R US that wasn't yet scrubbed of any real personality.
I have these.. weird.. memories
From when i was.. 1..3
Those yellow walls..
The tones of blue..
This is a toys r us in the early 2000s.. or late 90s
Its coming back to me. Yet, i was so small, it feels fragmented. Weird.. (i was born in early 2000)
